    Yeah, the last thing they need to be doing in the desktop space, where they're rapidly eating up ex-users of Windows, is restrict what users can do.

    Isn't this already a thing on phone OSes? If you're a dev who wants to run unauthorised code, it's probably a one-time setting away (probably? like on Android). If you're a vanilla user you wouldn't care anyway because your apps would be authorised. Better security for end users and pretty much no difference for devs, I don't see why this is a bad thing.

    Unless they charge extra for it, of course.

    @RememberMe this is a desktop

    this is different.

    @Parzi why? It's a machine which runs an OS meant for the average user. Same thing as a phone, just different in size.

    @M1sf3t that's not macOS exclusive, it's extremely easy on Windows and Android too.

    It's also something in favour of code signing, installing random apps from the internet can be pretty disastrous for users. Android for example will outright refuse unless you tell it to shut up and install (which is easy), as long as Apple's system is something similar it sounds like a good idea to me.

    @M1sf3t don't forget having to pay.

    @M1sf3t like I said, it's okay if it's like Android's or Windows' system, but shady if you need to pay and jump through hoops for it.
