@torbuntu super cool! what are your degrees for, if you don’t mind me asking?
-
@torbuntu ah nice. thinking of probably pursuing a software development degree of some kind. not too many job opportunities in that field in my area without a degree
-
i don't have a college degree, i was DONE with schools after high school.
in retrospect, i regret it. not because of "knowledge" i missed out on, but because of the socialization and people interaction i missed out on.
game programmer/subcontractor -
I have a college degree. B.S In Computer Science. I am also on my way to obtain my graduate degree in CS as an MCS.
I work as a programmer analyst for my institution. -
devyRant55yI dropped out of my bachelor's in business to pursue my startup dream (with bit of self-taught coding skills), last year I resigned and last month applied for distant degree in Computer Application, also self learning web app penetration testing.

Voxera115855yI do not have a college degree and are currently working as a senior developer.
Last job was senior dev, system architect, sys admin and network architect.
A degree is useful to get you through the door and for base knowledge but seeing multiple college graduates (or our equivalent) its painfully clear that schools are one or a few steps behind, especially when it comes to databases.
Also, in some companies it can affect salary, but I would probably not work on any of them ;) -
I have a BSc. in Medical CS, currently doing my masters in scientific computing
I work part time as a Java-/Angular-Dev for an insurance company -
jhia285yI have a technical degree in IT, and I'm about to continue into engineering degree. Web developer and now founder, I see university as the way to do some science investigations and find cool friends to go to hackathons. I like to study but my degree's not necessary to find a good job. Perhaps it's experience over academy, here.

Our educational system works a little different so I technically didn't go to college but I did study... (Netherlands)
I studied Application Development and finished that successfully. Did a Linux engineering job for nearly two years (self taught on that one and my former boss didn't give a fuck about degrees and certs) and am jobless now after resigning myself. Not sure what I'm going to do yet.
