Does anyone have any good recommendations for Bluetooth, noise cancelling (over ear) headphones, with good build and sound quality?

I use these terrible cheap earbuds at work that really need to be replaced, so I won't be much help. Just want to see what recommendations other people have.

Not Bluetooth 🙃 but I used to have a set of takstar's that went really well for the money, that weren't noise cancelling, but you seriously couldn't hear anything when in use anyway.

They gave up after a couple of years due to the aux jack breaking but that was from daily use connected to my phone, so couldn't complain to much.

Sony WH-1000XM3 comes to mind. It's quite expensive, but built like a tank. Battery time is around 30 hours and noice cancellation is first in class.

I've had it for half a year now and still don't regret it. Use it everyday :)

See Bose QuietComfort 35 II for a tad cleaner sound (it's more clinical in my opinion; Bose always sounds a bit lifeless to me) for comparable specs. Though the Sony can be used in NC mode without listening to music, which AFAIK the Bose one can't.

You can't go wrong with either though, it's like choosing between a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

As an affordable solution with a very good quality for its price I'd suggest the Sony WH-H900N. You can't get much better sound quality over BT anyway, really the difference with top of the line headphones is barely audible without a cable.

3M Worktunes Connect turn off surrounding sounds with passive noise cancellation. They are amazing for work.

At work I have some $500 pair of Bose ANC headphones my boss lent me. They're incredible.

Only downside I can think of: the ANC feature uses a AAA battery, and doesn't pull power from the cable when it's attached. Lasts several weeks of regular (7-10 hours a day) use though.

i seccond the sony wh1000X3, expensive but worth it.

On Friday 29. is Black Friday so maybe you'll find a good deal on that day.

I have a pair of B&O H8s and H9is and I doubt I’d ever use another brand for headphones.

@Lucky-Loek Bought the same yesterday. First real test will be today at the gym. Hope the noice canceling swallows all the moaning and groaning of those apes.

I have the Bose QC 35 II. They're awesome and can definitely be used in NC mode without playing any music

Bose 700 is the ones I use. They are absolutely amazing imo.

@Brolls I'm using the H8i and they're amazing except when you have to use a microphone. it reduces audio quality by quite a bit and the only workaround is using a different microphone. The customer support said since it's by design, they would not take care of it. one cheeky guy even said that "it's not a problem with the product but a problem with perception". I would just like a switch to turn it off.

Try out some Bowers & Wilkins. They have several models :-)

Once you get the headphones then paint or put stickers on them that say "STFU".

If you want great NC and good sound WH-1000XM3. If you want to go a bit cheaper with worse NC but IMO nicer sound Sennheiser momentum 2.0 (HD1 I think they're called now). The latter are also much nicer in build quality. Bose are a good option for great NC but personally I do not like their sound signature (I'd save a few bucks and go for the QC35II over the 700 if you don't absolutely need the improved microphones of the latter). There are also many cheaper options with nice sound and slightly worse NC from Sony, Sennheiser etc.

@writeascript yeah that bugs me too, but it’s because it has a headset Bluetooth mode.

When paired with Windows you can pick the regular headphones mode instead (sound mixer) and it sounds just as good as usual and still uses the mic; no such luck paired with a smartphone tho.

@Brolls Are you sure it's not usinf a different mic? I can never get the mic to work. I can choose between headset and non headset. On manjaro kde it becomes evennmore apparent. I can choose either high quality or headset unit und when I choose the high quality one it just doesn't show the microphone anymore. the device just doesn't show up anymore. same in Windows, if I choose the high quality headphones, it does not pick up anything from the mic.

@writeascript weird. Mine is quite happy to let me select headphones (rather than headset) and still use the mic.

Maybe it’s Skype doing something weird to select the mic and leave the headphones mode active?

Who knows! But aye, I agree, it is a massive pain in their design, and the only other thing I don’t like is that they’re not super resilient to knocks and wear/tear. The plastic switch on the H8s can give out quite easily, and the cups on my H9is split when I dropped them. I’ve not been able to use them since, because a replacement pair of cups is £100!

They sound and look so good though, I just wish they were built a touch better.
