There is nothing as hard as explaining the work of a back end dev to a non technical person

I tried to explain to my PM that the fact that my backend team finished all the tasks doesn't mean the system is "almost" done.. i said - we cut all the vegetables, and only after the frontend cooks everything, then you can eat the meal..

I like to explain this as a waitress in a restaurant. Clients order to waitress for some food, waitress processes data she received to satisfy clients.

In french, waitress sounds like 'serveur' and clients is just 'clients'.
