What do you guys use instead of Google Analytics? I'd like a free (if possible) application that gives me most if not all of the data Google does

I realize that I may be asking too much but anything helps 🙂

🤔beyond something homebrew I don't see how you're going to get all that, mostly the last point, Googles analytics are as insightful as they are, because they are very intrusive with the data they collect.

And you're not asking too much. A lot of people use tracker blockers (which include blocking google analytics) and I think that these don't block the more privacy friendly analytics services by default.
Also, if you don't use google analytics (or the analytics of another big surveillance company), I'd see that as caring about user privacy and thus not fucking over your users in that way!

I'd question whether Google Analytics really gives you that much more useful information than you get from your server logs anyway.

@Fast-Nop It does. You won't find gender, age and other information in your server logs.

Personally I don't use GA in apps. Too intrusive for me.

But I do use it on website (marketing / remarketing).

For application I use mixpanel for user events.

@NoToJavaScript Wait what? Yo can retrieve this information from random strangers if they browse your website? Do they have to be logged in with their Google account for that to work?

Also, that sounds pretty much like lining up for a hefty GDPR fine.

@NoToJavaScript Holy crap, I knew GA was bad, but not that it is THAT bad. That's why I'm blocking this shit via uBlock Origin on my PC and on any PC I set up for other people.

@TechnoTrumpet About 6 gazillions give or take two hundred seventy thousand, which in zimbabwean dollars is about tree fiddy.

Flight time for the helicopter is 21 hours and 9 minutes to the u.s., depending on how far north you live and if you live in the u.s. at all

Update: I finally set up a Matomo server (thanks @linuxxx ) and am slowly migrating my sites from GA. I'm also looking into Cloudflare analytics.
