It is snowing hard here in the mid-West of the States, just wish that we had 4-day work week system since 2 days is not enough in this weather. Wonder how European devs (esp in Germany) enjoy their extra 8hrs?

What extra 8 hours? We don't have a 4-day work week in Germany. I think close to zero countries have 4-day work week. Maybe Sweden though

Well Denmark had the wettest fall in 130 years and we are hardly even getting Frost this year... Send us some cold weather man, otherwise we'll be dead by mosquitoes come summer!

@don-rager there's been some talk of Finland doing it, but I don't know if they went through with it or not...

Germany tried a 4 day week for devs once, but the German devs used the free time just to invent bad jokes about Dutch drivers. Then the Finns started to test how much vodka they would need to find that funny, which caused a vodka shortage in Russia. The Russians threatened to cut the natural gas supply to Germany if that didn't stop, and that was the end of the 4 day week in Germany.

Why do you think there are 4 day weeks in Germany?

Here in the Netherlands you have lots of people working a 4-day week. In most places, after passing the probation period, you are pretty much entitled to asking for an 80% week (for 80% pay, of course), and usually HR have little reason to refuse your request.

EDIT: on the OP's topic, no snow here either so far, and there is not much left of winter.
