The fact that the latest Linux kernel added support for 32 bit systems to function past 2038 is one of the most baffling things I've ever seen in development history... Not saying it's a bad thing... But.... Why

    Not everything needs 64 bit support.
    Low power and embedded systems for example.

    Many ARM boards only run on 32 bit (e.g. the Raspberry Pi by default)

    I've yet to see microcontrollers or SBCs that are 64 bit.
