I think it heavily depends on where you live and the average price others are asking for similar jobs.

I usually asked the average price, of course accounting for taxes (learned that the hard way). Also accounted for how much the client *could* pay, but not too much. You don't want to be taken advantage of, but neither to lose a profitable job just for a little less money than expected.

(est work hours * 2) * desired wage + (extra fees)

Extra fees include:
- custom CMS
- Database design
- Payment API/ processes
- Responsive design

Etc.

Nothing under $1500, unless it's for a friend. Then it's double that.
