The thing they didn't mention was making sure everyone had permissions and firewall configuration set up so they didn't lose a ton of hours due to the vpn segment lacking resource permissions/access the local segment had.

@kescherRant if.Everyone needs to wfh, can they handle it... But not bring and to auto test load and also telling everyone to beginner login at different times uh... Sorta just like wtf?

Same deal with my company. So many remote workers in China are overloading parts of the system so they are adding alot more resources in expectation more and more people will have to work remotely.

Here in Arkansas, USA we get ice from time to time; this will stop all work for three to five days. The VPN (both live and backup/DR) are stressed tested in the fall each year as part of business continuity.

@bkwilliams manually or automatically though? As far as I can tell this is the same as can you handle a DDOS and manage a huge load of open connections without crashing

@billgates bots for RDP really. I think they used https://microsoft.com/en-us/... but I’m not sure. The infrastructure manager was telling the story in a meeting.

@billgates also at that company about 10% of the IT workforce was remote at any given time as there wasn’t enough parking and desks.
