How do you spend the first 4 hours ( or whatever hours you have before you sleep) after coming home from work/college?

I am currently an unemployed undergrad doing some freelancing from a nearby co-working space. Mine is usually spent eating and binge watching some web series, sometimes doing some coding before going off to sleep

I either read a book or play chess.

Usually cooking, household and then either gaming or doing university assignments.
Sometimes (best case 2-3x/week) workout or going out for drinks

I eat supper that my wife made when I get home. We make sure we have done everything for the day. Then we go walking or swimming or some other activity. We do some grocery shopping or errands on the walk if we need to. Then we play a board game or read. Once or twice a week we meet with friends in the evening. Once or twice a month we volunteer. Bible study once a week.

So it varies a lot but generally similar activities week to week.

@electrineer i am sorry if you thought so. i don't have siblings and am greeted with an empty room most of the time. I usually feel like am living my life wrong, and should be rather doing some project or completing my work, but in my previous internship this caused a lot of stress to me. i would like to do things that i had rather not regret as a waste of time, in future

also, thankyou everyone for sharing your lifestyle

@StopWastingTime The only time you can be living your life wrong is if you don't enjoy it. If doing that caused you stress don't do it.
If you feel lonely when coming home go out. Get to know people. Or try to learn enjoying being alone. I moved from a shared flat to my own in April last year and being alone when coming home was so enjoyable for me.

Just don't believe you live your life wrong bc it is expected from you to live differently.

Take a nap because I'm so fucking tired at the end of the day that on the way home I almost sleep at red lights. Then when I wake up I work on personal projects for a bit or play some CSGO. Then it's time for dinner, then sleep. Rinse and repeat.

@SortOfTested do you ever have fun? I cannot imagine getting from home from work and instantly cooking and working at home then sleep and do it all again the next day.

    Four hours?!

I'm lucky if I get two before it's time to sleep.
I generally spend that with my family, or eating dinner. Sometimes I play battlefield with my (sorta) father-in-law because he really enjoys playing that game.

Usually relax for 2 hours or so, eat dinner, then lay in bed for a few hours, realise I'm not going to sleep, get up and do something for a bit, lay back in bed for another hour and hopefully fall asleep

@StopWastingTime I’m a Christian so I don’t think that CBT solves spiritual things. However, it sounds like you should read up on the concept of ‘shoulds’ and how they can affect you.

smoke a bit of weed, and watch some tv show or some youtube videos like pbs spacetime or 3blue1brown or something similarly suitable for that state.

    or play some game.

i don't have 9to5 job currently, though. but the "after work routine" is pretty much still the same, except occasionally when i feel like some hobby programming, and can afford to be up all night, i do that instead.
