A shoutout to all the cool guys and gals who are not afraid of covid-19 and see no reason to be careful or take all (any) the safety measures available...

A shoutout to all the cool kids who claim to believe that this is "just a flu".

Feast your eyes on this comparison. We have that low deaths rate (so far) ONLY because we are taking this shit seriously and we take all the precautions we can. Now imagine if the Infected numbers were as high as the Spanish flu -- 33% of the population? Numbers start to get real scarry when you start making conversions to absolute values. considering mortality rates this "just a flu" is the most lethal of all the major flu pandemics since late 19th century (according to this ref.)

Guys, gals, non-binaries, stay safe. Care for yourselves and peeps around you.

Accoring to https://wikiwand.com/en/... covid-19 is a class 5 pandemic so far. Meaning it's the worst kind - with very high mortality rate.

@Frederick yeah as always we underestimated power of nature and looks like some of us forgot how miserable meat sacks we are.

Unfortunately after shit tons of posts about how it is to work remotely everywhere I don’t think it will ever change for better.

In my country of residence, the confirmed number of infections was at 1413 yesterday, with the real number (far from everyone with symptoms is being tested, and some may have the virus but no symptoms) estimated to be above 6000, and 24 deaths. That's a 1.6% mortality rate.

Italy, where things have not been handled great from the start, has about 22000 confirmed cases, and about 2200 deaths, which is about a 10% mortality rate. There you can see what might happen if you don't take this seriously.

Page 3, Table 1 points to research data about the lethality of coronavirus, doesn't look that lethal sincerely

@SomeNone Still those numbers are less than the normal season flu deaths in Italy...

And guess what, a good portion of the italian population is of old people...

@h4xx3r Sure, they're running out of people in some villages, and they give you a house for free if you commit to taking good care of it.

@SomeNone you fall for the lies I see

@SomeNone We can't really talk about mortality until the situation is more stable. Dividing total number of infected by number of deaths is highly inaccurate.
