Friend,

I signed a petition on Action Network urging Congress to reject the dangerous EARN IT Act and protect our online free speech.

The Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies Act of 2019 — also known as the EARN IT Act — gives Attorney General Willliam Barr the power to demand that tech companies kill important encryption programs. That puts us all at risk of government censorship, cybersecurity breaches, and human rights abuses.

Don’t let Congress chip away at your essential freedoms online. Sign our petition now to tell your lawmakers to reject the dangerous EARN IT Act: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions...

Thanks!

👀the US doesn't have this already?

Welcome to the "European" nations of the world.

No, having the largest tech companies, we've been fairly immune to the whole invasion of privacy thing as it puts those companies at liability. The Republicans have to this point been torn between the lower of control and the love of corporate super people.

@SortOfTested ah, so in that case... welcome to the rest of the lack of privacy nations.

I was wondering when I'd see a petition against this absurdity, it seemed to me the current contamination was hiding it in the news
Thank you so much, I will sign it.

It'll pass no matter what the people want. It's only a matter of time. Congress always get what they want. All anyone can do is slow it down. This is precisely why the whole government structure in the US needs to change.

@SortOfTested "congress" has been torn between lower control and the need to please corporate super people. Democrats have their own list, its just different names at the top. A lot of your major corporate tech companies are on it tho. Pharmacies and insurance would seem to be there as well.

@C0D4 all those subpoenas and indictments trumps crew tried to handout last year were aimed to soften them up in case this bill doesn't manage to quietly slip by the public eye. They'll bring up again, ignoring that nothing actually ever came of it, and spin it so that the story gets a more negative outlook from the people, who will then allow for it to pass because of their newly founded outrage.

You're giving the Democrats too much credit. They have no direction or plan.

@SortOfTested thats because the influence of the freaks that took it over back in the 60's is still lingering around. Once they're gone, the only bits of their idealism that will be left will be used for misdirection just like t with the affordable health care act.

The new generation is all corporate, just west coast instead of east.
