I have three, and I use two and one is nearly never used. I sometimes switch to just one for a while because screens really fucks with my ability to sleep over time.
-
I'd rather have a bigger screen with 16000x9000 resolution, but I probably won't see that soon enough.
-
I prefer one 21:9 screen or using win+tab, i tend to procastinate if i use 2 screens

atheist99308yI prefer 1 monitor and 2 windows side by side. Have 2 at work, the second is rarely used.

lig114458yI use one and only one. Tried two, never used. Also I often use my laptop for coding. Using the single monitor in office is like keeping the similar setup.
I use Gnome and about 3-5 virtual desktops.
I have tiled terminal and it's semitransparent. That way i can read the doc underneath it and use it at the same time.
Speaking on IDE. I use Eclipse and it has marvelous possibilities to tune the UI. I have the code editor, console, build log, outline and errors view visible altogether.
