Actually for me it'd depend on how good the job looks on my CV. If I'm being underpaid and happy but the job itself doesn't have transferrable skills then I'm better off somewhere else. Same goes for the other side of the coin - I might be overpaid and bored/stressed/overworked but again if the job doesn't give anything back in terms of career progression then there is nothing (except for expensive vet bills that I need to cover) that would keep me there.

viking817408yJust switched jobs, and turned down an offer that would give me 30% more than what I get now. Colleagues and work environment comes before cash.. For now...

Thing is though, if overpaid and bored means you're bored at the office and not outside of work i'd rather be overpaid. You can always spend the time you have on personal projects

asgs112758y@sanse1992 the sad thing is being bored doesn't necessarily mean you are free. It might just mean that you are doing some shitty work you don't find to be interesting
-
@asgs I'm aware, the thing with these questions is that you can get as philosophical as you want. Being bored can mean that there isn't much to do or that you're stuck with shitty work. Perhaps even doing work of which you don't learn anything.
Aside from that it also depends on the people answering on what they see as being bored.
To me it's really circumstantial whether I want to have the one or the other. As for my reason to rather being overpaid and bored. Being stuck doing shitty work means I get stuff done quicker out of disinterest so that I can move on to something more interesting. 😉 -
I kind of have the latter at the moment. I'm bored and unhappy, but well paid for it. I was happy to take a cut when I was looking for my next job.
You spend most of your waking time at work, being unhappy there isn't worth money. -
itsfhm3938yWow thanks for all the comments guys, was really interesting getting all the different point of views and opinions. For me personally I'm still undecided. Responsibilities sometimes just takes precedence.

purged39408yIt's simple for me: my salary is a representation of my value to the company.
If I feel underpaid, I AM unhappy. For me there is no such thing as underpaid and happy.
I look for a bit of middle-ground. I want to be paid for market value, and I want to like the work I'm doing.
The problem with being overpaid is that if the company hit's hard times, you'll be among the first to feel the squeeze.
Happy and underpaid Vs "overpaid" and bored - which option you would you choose?
