Just had a complete nerd-gasm as I finally got my gradle plugin script to perform multi-module releases correctly and efficiently
-
I accidentally washed my headphones along with my clothes last night. One side has lost all bass 😢
On the plus side, they smell amazing.17 -
My biggest bad habit (for now!) is rushing changes. I have no real deadlines, yet I rush commits and cause failures in our CI tool every week1
-
This wk47 'bad habits' tag really highlights just how many devs are out there that I never want to work with5

Dear Santa,
I know I'm 11 months early, but I have an urgent request. Please, never make me have to do web development again. It has been 24 hours and I've had enough.
Lots of love,
Me1 -
Java introduced generics in version 5 which was a game changer, but what has it done since then? Is there anything in 6 - 8 that isn't just syntactic sugar?2
-
Start my new job next week, and just got an email from them asking if I prefer Windows 7 or Ubuntu for my work machine!
I think I'll like it there6 -
I don't get the bug "joke" that's flying around. If you have 99 bugs and fix one, why would you have more? Do you not have automated tests?4
-
What's with Android telling me what volume I should have my music at? If I want to deafen myself, then that's up to me!2

There's nothing quite like having to listen to someone's condescending tone, all the while knowing that they're talking bollocks.
Go shit in your hands and clap.3 -
Quote from one of the seniors here:
"Build as simply as possible, in case other people don't know what they're doing"
So, instead of using all tools available (I'm trying to introduce using AspectJ), we should build for the least knowledgeable developer and not teach them anything new.11 -
My company has no new development for me to do. And hasn't done for a month or two.
Up side - today is resigning day! Couldn't be happier4 -
We've all seen bad code in our time. The code I'm currently looking at needs to die horribly in a fire. In fact, that doesn't even seem extreme enough for this monstrosity
-
The concept of designing and building a testable application is apparently a very alien one to my colleagues.
1. The application cannot be used without gigabytes of data.
2. The application must be fully connected to all external systems at all times.
3. Convention over configuration is unheard of, so if you manage to achieve the above, it still takes hours to set up the damn thing.
Apes. -
I have what I hope to be the final 'final' interview for a new job tomorrow. So many hoops to jump through. At least I know the company has a thorough hiring process! It really cannot come fast enough6
-
I've spent my entire day at work planning my next home project. Probably the most productive day I've had at this company!
-
Apparently I'm to try and fix bugs that are 1-2 years old. Some of which have had work done on them before, so may be in a different state. No reproduction scenarios either.
What the actual fuck? -
8 hours in the office yesterday without any tasks. 1 hour in today, still no tasks. I wonder how long this will go on for.
Plus side: so much time for reading about new [to me] tech4 -
Took some leave recently to interview for a new job. Back to work to find that I have nothing to do. Asked for more work and got nothing. This place just gives me constant reminders of why I'm looking elsewhere4
