No motivation these days to do any work from home. All I want to do is watch Youtube/Netflix/Hulu or play Valorant (fps shooter). I don't know if I'm just addicted to games again or if my motivation so low I just don't want to look at work. It all kicked off when 3 of the tickets I finished and got merged to develop were reopened by my QA person for obscure issues, then my PM decided to throw 3 extra tickets in mid sprint, and I just said "fuck it" and started playing games instead.

I don't know what to do. In the over year I've been at my company I've never done or felt this way while in the office. I've always got stuff done, but now working from home I feel very shitty.

@molaram I do not agree with you there. It's natural for humans to want social contact.

Maybe you need to have a better morning routine if that’s not already the case ? For me personally it helps a ton with getting to work and stay focused.

@Salvas21 You are right! I eventually get exhausted if I don't drink coffee from coffee shop at 3 mornings in a row, and I'm stuck with single task because I can't even stably differ home from work now, this sucks!

Not every dev is an introvert. I can suggest try finding a discord server where you can be online all day talking to people while doing your work. Or even pair program with someone else. You need that working state of mind, and if you can't have it in reality, you might as well simulate it.

Also, I'm almost the same. But in the end, anxiety of never finishing it gets me going.

@NoMad I think I become you every time I complete a side project by %60, getting too bored/complex, calling it a day, and then never returning to project cuz my brain tells "you won't finish it anyways"

@molaram some people are extroverts and want that human contact. Other aren't and can work remotely with no problems. It varies from person to person bro.

@NoMad me too. Like waiting to study for a test the night before the exam. The pressure always makes me want to work.

@vintprox same for me my room has become my class at the same time and I think I pass too much time there each day ! It’s a relief when I get out 😂

This is EXACTLY how I feel!

Can’t do anything but watch the news.

Just a couple of days ago I read this article. Maybe you can get something out of it?

@sweetnothings my brain at the start of the sprint "you have plenty of time". Near sprint ending cycle "motivation due to pressure at maximum". /jk

@KDSBest my motivation (helium) baloon pops after that pressure.

@molaram I'm an introvert who also has social anxiety. I hate talking to people. I hate meetings. Any day when I can walk into the office, put on my headphones, and code without interruptions is a good day. But this social isolation is really getting to me anyway. I didn't consider myself a social person before, and I don't now, but something about working from home week after week after week has drained so much of my motivation. My productivity took a nosedive and still hasn't recovered.

@EmberQuill I feel you there. I hope things get better for you.

Maybe your butt have compatibility issues with home's one

@drewbie Well not true, I prefer office facilities.

Work from home produce me nothing but carpal tunnel

@bonegarden I think that's the biggest factor, for me at least. When I walk into the building I work in, I know I'm there to work. When I get home in the evening, I'm done with work (usually). But it's hard to get into the right mindset to focus on work when I'm sitting in my bedroom right next to my gaming PC. Especially on days when I wake up late and don't have any coffee until after our stand-up.
