    @vladmir on Windows I could write a novel with all the time wasted on, "Installing update 278999 of 278999 please wait". I imagine all these people around the world just staring at that screen! : /

    @ggromx Installers for most Linux distros are basically just striped down versions of the distro. Some of them (like fedora) allow you to use the live OS while it's installing.

    @franga2000 Yeah it's just running live of of the USB/CD drive while installing.

    Sigh. I install only Arch Linux.

    @danglingPointer first world problems 🤗 I'm an Arch user as well.

    It's way tougher to install those first times, but once it's set up I actually think it's easier to maintain, potentially for years, due to inherent simplicity, rolling release, and the world's best documentation! (Hence the popularity of distros like Antergos)

    I've never had the stability issues that people warned me about. It's been a great OS!

    @n1had You can install if its a "live iso" it starts the is on memory so you can test it, and this test includes installing programs :)
