I used to hate apple products and the ecosystem. It has been 2-3 that I have to use Macbook Pro and Iphone for work.
And I am afraid I am starting to like it.

The MacBook used to be way better back in 2005, no need to carry adapters, my two cents, maybe people like the new models for some reason

@elgringo The thing is, while not as good as it was before, it's still okay if you're willing to lock yourself in their ecosystem. So spend 4-6k on the phone, laptop, desktop, tablet, TV, etc., and you'll find it (almost) pleasant.

@Jilano My wife and I are all Apple at home and at work but even if we sum up all our private devices we hardly reach 5K. Then it’s not about the initial costs it’s about the total costs of ownership. I sold my 2008 MacBook Pro for 300€ back in 2018 after 10 years of heavy usage incl software development and a PhD thesis.

@lastNick it definitely depends on the person, yes. I know two (unfortunate) souls that bought the biggest iPad Pro they could with the accessories. That's something like 2.2k€ if I recall correctly. So it's not too much of a stretch to get to 4k with another device.

You're right on the older models, though, they definitely retain more value than many others.

@lastNick I think it also depends on what you need/the pricing. If I'd replace everything like phones/laptops etc with apple stuff, I'd lose about 10K.

But, I find apples systems highly unintuitive and my moral says nope so I'll keep using my current stuff 😄
