kiki353344y@C0D4 I have many certs from coursera and a job
LinkedIn is trash but everyone is there, kinda facebook model. You can live without facebook though but good luck finding a job without linkedin if you’re not a famous rockstar -
Helps with impostor syndrome lol. Sometimes I feel to trashy and inexperienced then I go read my LinkedIn profile, ahh yes yes, compilers, hardware, uhuh mm, oh assembler and linker, OS development too? ah yes, that's me. But then u read other people's profiles and they crush ur ego; 40 years of experience 30+ languages, I have worked at Microsoft, GeneralElectrics, Google, Facebook, PornHub, Nvidia, IBM, Tesla, and so on... I create the universe and ur mum. Bruh after reading other's profiles then I go back to my impostor syndrome cave and start crying again lol.

C0D4681384y@uyouthe I don't mean those, I mean Google/MS ect ones.
Clout comes in many forms I guess.
As for "needing" LinkedIn, yes and no, it's never gotten me a job, and it's mostly just random recruiters wanting to feed me bullshit jobs. -
@uyouthe I'm not a famous rockstar, and not one of my jobs have been found through LinkedIn.
-
@uyouthe Combination of:
- The normal, old-fashioned job boards
- Stackoverflow jobs
- Industry contacts
- In one case, a (decent) recruiter
LinkedIn has some decent opportunities I'm sure, and I'd use it if I had no other choice, but the recruiter spam is just a bit much for me to bother with. -
C0D4681384y@uyouthe just apply direct, it's never failed me before.
Although the recruiters have ghosted me in the past, so that says something. -
@C0D4 Yeah, recruiters I don't know are a last ditch attempt for me. Won't touch them unless it's a stellar opportunity and they're the only way to apply.

Depends on your network and groups you follow. Kick some people out, follow people that you like, join groups

JhonDoe28184yI use it for job hunting and no more, so I don't care about anything else going on there

Does anyone else feels that LinkedIn is a kind of professional trash? Majority of users there are just for posting out their certificates and to but buzz words in their bio.
