Has anyone been in the situation when you order something on company's expenses, got your expenses manager approved, get the reimbursement in your account. And the item you ordered got refunded because of some delivery problems?
Will any company can find out of I have pocketed the money, in this case I haven't. I just bought same item from local shop but my manager is unaware if whole thing except he approved my expenses.

Should I drop a mail to my manager regarding this? It's been 1 week already.

    Email won't hurt.

Generally when that happened to me nobody cares, but that was at mega corp and they didn't have time to deal with it.

@N00bPancakes after a week In mentioning it, won't it be seen as I was trying to pocket it? I really don't mind but still manager might think in this way.

@true-dev001 naw, a week wouldn't sound like that to me. Folks who steal don't tell their manager.

@N00bPancakes okay, you are right. Thanks I'll just drop a mail with the new receipt.

Sounds like some low value item if they refund it like that.

@electrineer It was for a wfh chair.

    Don't overthink it.

"Hey, just to let you know, the original item was refunded because of delivery issues, so I've purchased another instead. Receipt is attached, let me know if there's anything else you need."

I don't know why but it seems like I misunderstood the situation. And I was not the only one.

So now I get it that you didn't get the chair at first but got the money on your own account. And then you proceeded to buy the chair from another place.

In that case, keep the discussion and the receipt safe in case someone is interested at some point. I wouldn't necessarily send an email for such a minor thing but would rather mention it in the next phone call with my boss. It's good to mention it in some way, and a week is well within a reasonable time.

    Enjoy your chair.
