Ik this has been asked plenty of times but I am currently trying as many IDE's as I can. Any recommendations for Java?

IntelliJ Idea. Costs money, but is well worth every penny. If you are on a budget, then take a look at Netbeans. Avoid Eclipse.

I used to be an eclipse guy, because it was free. I've been converted to intellij! Even the community (free) edition is enough to get started

Ya I already have it installed and I was really confused by it coming from netbeans and eclipse

What about Eclipse? Is it still relevant today? Last time I used it was 4 years ago I think, and it's quite good.

I mean considering I am just a junior in college it is more than sufficient for my work. but I want to get accustomed to a more advanced IDE that I will use for the future, by the time I graduate.

@lue428 You can get IntelliJ Ultimate for free as a student btw: https://www.jetbrains.com/student/

Last time I checked, netbeans is still super slow with maven projects. I'd suggest good old eclipse first and then intellij if you want fancy refactoring.

I would highly recommend eclipse and recommend you don't use Netbeans

I downloaded the bare bones eclipse package, and setup all the plugins and dependencies for it myself. Its blazing fast at starts up almost instantly. Perfect for Java imo
