Having lost my watch recently (a small swatch thingy), I'm in the market for a new one. While I can get by without a watch perfectly well by simply checking my phone for the time, I was thinking of getting a smartwatch at some point. Is it worth getting a smartwatch just yet, or should I wait and get a cheap Casio until better smartwatches are available? (I have a Moto G.) If it's worth it, clearly this weekend is a good time to buy, as some pebbles are half price and the Moto 360 is slightly reduced.

For fitness watches the Garmin's are very good - 25, 230...

Get a Chinese watch. Currently at my school we have a students business which is just telling a Chinese company what they want in the watch and selling it. Costs 7 bucks for them, selling for 25. Real nice ones, better than the small fitbits.

I'd suggest getting a Pebble until the rest of the smart watch industry get their performance/battery life/water resistant features balanced... But it does tend to depend what you want from your smart watch. I still use the first pebble because of its 7 day battery life and that I can use it as a compass when scuba diving. The best thing for me is that I now have my phone on silent always (watch vibration replacing the need for ringtones/alarms) and reading whatsapp etc on the watch means your phone battery lasts way longer as well. And that's not to mention sleep quality tracking and smart alarm tools that work way better when you don't have to charge your watch every night

I can only agree with @L33tCh.
Had the original Pebble a couple of years ago, but figured the grass was greener and all that. So got an android wear watch, but the battery life and that you either need to manually turn the screen on, wait a heart beat too long for the screen to turn on automatically or be a shining lcd display beacon for the world if you always have the display on.
    E-ink is just wonderful imo.
So I got a Pebble Time Steel and has been quite satisfied since.
Though for me the only things I get from my smartwatch is the time and my notifications, so I don't have to waste time taking out my phone for some random notification that isn't really important.
For me personally that's well worth it.
Changing songs etc with the watch probably works just fine as well (I'm one of those freaky people that survive just fine without music).
