I would have started at C. It doesn't really matter though, probably java for work. C for understanding how everything works.

Whichever lets you accomplish the next thing you wanna try making. I found having experience with "normal" programming languages very helpful when it came to understanding C. Do be aware there's some things you wanna know before you dive in with C (stacks, heaps, how memory works, etc). I'm sure someone wrote a primer or something. In contrast I found java much more beginner friendly, but I'm biased as that was my first language.

@Elyz I had C(++) as my first language and after that Java and I also found Java far more beginner friendly.

Hope you know the difference between learning a language syntax and actually being proficient with the language. No one will hire you, if you plainly know the syntax. You also need to build a toolbox for it. Like learning design patterns, best practices, libraries, etc.

Fuck the green dots, learn whatever you want to learn. Doesn’t matter, at all.
