Been a little inactive for a long time, but I could really use your advices fellow ranters.

I'm in my senior year of highschool and I got an extraordinary internship at a company (it's not possible to get a job in web dev in this country as a highschooler).
The pay is just a little pocket money, but projects are fun (web apps in js) and I can include this experience iny resume later on.

Basically the company wants me to go to uni/college. The teachers too. Oh, parents too.
I have been suffering in schools for my whole life, I really don't feel lile I could make myself go to school another 4 years.

And I also don't have the slightest idea of what I wanna do with my life, I have no goals currently and I'm afraid of that while I'm in this existential crisis state it is easier for people to tell me what's good for me.

Objectively this is a country of papers, so I guess it doesn't matter wheter it's web dev or the next super digital intelligence I do as a profession.

I also want to travel the world, but I need money for that Xd. If possible I'd love to move to another country, but still have no idea.

Thanks for reading through this depressing shit.

My advice is give it a go. Worst case you hate it, drop out and move on with your life. In the grand scheme of things these choices don't matter too much and if you're in doubt I'd say you owe it to yourself to at least try. I was surprised by how much I ended up enjoying uni (I also didn't really wanna go). That being said if you truly hate school and can't see yourself doing several years more then don't. It's not the end of your life and it doesn't mean you'll never be able to get a job.

Let's put it this way: uni is education in a completely different way than high school, so it won't feel like the continuation of the same old.

However, if you feel like you need a break from studying, do that, take a gap year or two. I don't know which country you live in so I don't know how things work there, but don't be afraid to face the harsh truth that very few of us actually have any idea what they really want to do in life... e.g. it took me 8 years between ending high school and starting the studies for my dev life. During those 8 years I did a lot of things, even studied something I thought I wanted to do. But it doesn't matter, do as thou wilt.

If your country embraces free education for all, it's much easier, so I hope your's does

I'm gonna give you an advice no one gave me, before I started uni.
Try to get your hands on a semester-schedule and course descriptions.
You might be thinking your there to study Programming,OS-internals,SW-Engineering and what not,
But suddenly the professor be like
"Solving Differential equations of nth order in your head go brrrr.".

Go to school. If you don't get the paper, you limit your options in life. If you're not paying for it, you'd be a complete idiot to pass on the op.

@Besi Bro, you can easily spend 4 years in college, c'mon!

I don't care about papers, in fact, the best developer in our company has no title. But, he has a big portfolio.

Also, if you want to travel the world and probably work in other countries., that stupid paper will get you the job easier.

Life is weird and some life decisions sometimes have to be taken on our teen years when we are all hormone and emotions crazy.

    GL My dude!
