10Dev28994yFor context: I'm working on Manjaro, and the vscode snap would crash every time I tried to delete a file or open a folder. The spotify snap would fuck with my audio, and the gitkraken snap would crash whenever I tried logging in

Parzi88334ysnap itself is a dumpster fire, it hangs when installing packages and i'm still occasionally picking bits of its catastrophic fuckup out of /usr when i find them.

zawoqui114yWhy the f*** would you use the snap packages of these programs in the first place? Just install the aur versions of both and you won't have any problems. I love yay for installing and updating AUR packages. And since it is merely a wrapper for pacman with the additional feature of handling all the aur trouble. It will be your one and only package manager for Arch (or Manjaro). While I can only support the rant about snap packages itself, your specific problems are easily solvable. In fact, the Spotify has kinda official support since the developers use Linux themselves and keep it up-to-date. And while you're at it, I'd suggest you take a look at VS Codium. It is basically to code what chromium is to chrome. I hope it'll lighten your mood =)

I use snap packages of viewer/read-only software, but it isn't long to convert out from snap - just using AppImage or Flatpak when possible.
I love how Godot is distributed via AppImage, I simply drop this file on desktop and it works. I dunno, wish many GUI apps took similar approach. -
zawoqui114y@AkshayTolwani of course you are right. But the OP mentioned Manjaro which is why I suggested the AUR packages ;)

10Dev28994y@zawoqui Snap worked fine on my old ubuntu setup, and I guess I liked the ease of use. However, never again. I now exclusively use aur and flatpak

Avyy7524yffmpeg is maybe the only snap package that works out of the box almost every time. Any time a repo offers snap packages over deb/rpm, I'm like.. Naah, I'll build from source
