TIL airplane entertainment systems run on linux

    I've never seen one that doesn't...most are RHEL too. That's why I laugh when they say we're experiencing difficulties with the entertainment system 😋

    The worst part is when the system breaks and you can see whats wrong. Your stuck on the plane for 24 hours the system is broke. The bug is right in front off you for a whole day and you have no way to fix it.

    And then you find they have ran out of alcohol.

    Trapped in a metal tube above the ocean for a day with nothing to do, no where to go and nothing to drink.

    Normal, if they were under Windows, there will be 40% of crashing!

    @pmbenjamin most I've seen have been disk or module errors. Scary to think how unmaintained they may be with credit card readers and all...

    Just saw this one today, United, making it the second Android frontend to an airplane entertainment system I've seen. And I have to say, it's pretty nice to navigate, unlike others, and unexpectedly performance as well.
