too much thermal paste?

I thought it comes to a point, too much will not be good?

Thermal paste is basically for better surface contact between die and the heatsink. Apply too much, and temps *may* go up. Plus (some cheap) thermal pastes are electrically conductive, it can flow down and potentially short your motherboard PCB
