That moment when you have important programs running in Windows 10 (Including an Ubuntu virtual machine) and Windows decides to just reboot, without permission for updates.

Yeah, after trying to postpone this restart multiple times I was also forced to let it happen :-/

Using Windows 7 it's possible to postpone, in 10 is it still possible?

@tpiekarski I don't know if it is possible in Windows 10. Guess not, you will get a notification that the computer will be restarted during low usage. But because of that I didn't ever see it rebooting...

    Well. Its sort of possible.

You can disable update completly but not pospone them indefenitly.

Thats one of two things I hate with w10.

At least if it could use some form of hibernate feature to avoid loosing all open documents. Not all programs do auto save and even when they do you loose undo.

The other being that when hdmi screens are shut down all windows are cramed into one monitor. Why not use the new virtual screem feature.

It should be illegal. Microsoft is playing with fire.

@TktStatusPICNIC i think is the best practice for any pc (and os) for many reasons (of course not servers, but on a server you run a proper os)

@TktStatusPICNIC not while sleeping. But in the event of problems I use vpn and remote desktop to access my machine to have all tools available to trouble shoot.
