Are there many people out there like me who don't subscribe to the whole "software to help you write software" malarkey? Resharper being a big one where I work!

Just give me a nice lean code editor.

    I had to use IntelliJ the other week .. And my pair was getting angry because I didn't know any of the magic keyboard short cuts and code generators .. It was ridiculous ... Sublime text or atom for me

    I don't like things that I don't understand so when visual studio offers to write queries and link stuff I decline and write things myself.

    I like coding my own stuff but I also watch closely for new dev tools that produce quality code and can assist me in producing quality solutions.
    There are so many project opportunities for developers anything that might help me I have to keep an open mind to. Just do not have enough hours in the day to build all I want to build. Which is a nice problem in a way.

    Do you realize this is almost like the older generation not wanting to adapt to new Technology?

    Using these tools can make you work faster

    I really like resharper except for when I'm working on one of the legacy projects at work that's running on .net 3.5 which I always forget and it sugests .net 4+ features that I then use and wonder why nothing works

    also I find that such software/features can be really helpful when learning new stuff.

    @Rasiah normally I would agree (I am one of the older generation) back in the year 2000 I spent three weeks looking for a bug that actually turned out to be a bug in a grid control MS provided. Once bitten twice shy.

    @philcr
    I can see your problem, but i'm sure a lot of people have ran into problems when first moving onto the digital world, like accidently deleting a lot of files. Be careful not to let bad experience with new technologies hold you back from moving forward
