Haven't dug to deep but it looks like they fired a massive sexist and racist so I'm happy

It's funny how someone so smart can't tell the difference between virtue signalling and an actual commitment from a company. It must be nice to be idealistic enough to think you can demand anything at google.
I left google because the group I was in went from 40% female to 10% female and 68% manager's countrymen over the course of 7 months thanks to a new hiring manager who had just got his permanent residency status. We were systematically run off in favour the new manager's friends and former colleagues. I held on because I loved what I was doing and wanted to ship the last few pieces, but eventually it became clear that my choices were move out or have my manager shit on my performance reviews to justify moving me out.
No one cared then, no one cares now. Google won't change until they stop putting people who mainline regressive culture and see no problem with cronyism in positions of authority. -
10Dev28994yI’ve said before, I’ll say it again, fuck google and their surveillance-for-profit business model
-
@12bitfloat Actually, they didn't even fire that stupid cunt - she demanded crap or threatened to resign, which Google accepted because she's a useless, virtue signalling piece of shit.

@SortOfTested Firing white women in favour of non-white men increases the diversity because race trumps sex. What it also does in case of imported H1B slaves is driving down cost.
-
@Fast-Nop
I was the only white woman on the team to begin with. Most of my colleagues were US chinese, or Taiwanese immigrant. -
@SortOfTested Asian counts similar as white these days, they're also on the hate list. Largely because they've good performance and work ethics. Nothing draws as much hate from the left as success through work and persistency.

eo287540064yIt's really sad seeing Google silencing women of color... that's why I don't use Google 😝 move to Ecosia people

I feel like I need to see what she *actually* said in that email before making a decision on this one.
That being said, while Google's diversity record is appalling, this doesn't seem to be a sensible way of changing things. If she genuinely emailed hundreds of employees telling them to stop work on critical projects, I'm not quite sure what else she expected. -
All of the articles I can find are biased heavily in favor of Timnit Gebru, race, feminism, etc.
Is there a summation of the facts, laid out plainly and without emotional charge? -
So from Jeff's response (https://docs.google.com/document/u/...) it seems this basically all happened because one of her papers was rejected for what sounds like valid reasons, and she demanded everyone responsible for the rejected review was publicly ousted, said she'd resign if not. Looks like she also told other people to stop working on their papers as well.
I still think Jeff acted too hastily tbh, it seems like an email that was likely sent in anger, and the right thing to do would have been to wait until she was back from holiday then talk through if this was what she really wanted, perhaps giving her a warning if not.
But damn, if you still want a job that's a really daft email to send, especially if you're then going to act surprised and like you're a helpless victim afterwards 🤷 -
Root824794y@junon That sort of thing is practically
Impossible to find now. Basically everything published now is more spin and agenda than content.
For a refreshing change, read The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli. He wrote it in such a matter-of-fact, cause and effect manner with no emotion at all. It’s wonderful.
So google kinda fired the co lead of their ethical ai team
