In spanish we don't say "stop being afraid" o "have no fear" word by word through translation. We say "ya no seas panocha" which roughly translates to "find bravery within you" and I think that this is beautiful.

For people that are constantly afraid we don't call them fearful in standard translation, we refer to them as "panochon" which attempts to remind them that they are in fact brave.

Use the word my friends. No sean panocha.

    I thought it meant "don't be a pussy". But that panocha means anything related to bravery instead of being a cake/sweet bread is fine too.

    @mundo03
    There is nothing braver than eating food from a sketchy tacquero at 2am.

    In El Paso, they're usually making the pissed off sons or nephews work the graveyard shift. So you're very likely getting food poisoning.

    I am far from Juarez, so I do know some safe places to eat here, but also know some with 50-50 chance of getting diarrhea.

    That’s some pro NLP shit right there. Using positive words instead of negative ones. Similar to how "don’t forget to" will have less success than "Remember to". Our minds are more akin to ignore negation so it’s actually quite nice that you guys say that.

    @p100sch yup. Just like pupusa can be food or pussy.

    Sounds like murrican motivational society: Everyone is ultra positive in a corporate-pitch way. Everything is always fine, the sky is the limit, there are no problems but only solutions, and there definitely is no failure but only chances...

    I prefer being grumpy instead.

    @Oktokolo Grumpy is ok as long as you stay realistic. It's when people focus too much on the bad that things start to get messy

    @Jilano
    Not sure, what would count as unrealistically bad though.
    Cabaret died because there literally is no way to exaggerate the truth anymore. It became real hard to tell the difference between the content of The Onion from some years ago and regular news today.
    Dystopic movie plots have to become more and more extreme to keep their distance to the present.

    @Oktokolo You seem like a grumpy panocha to me.
