tilde31438yIf you browse carefully and not click malicious links or install crappy software you should be fine without ANY antivirus.
-
@tild3 What about: A website exploited a security vulnerability in a software you have installed, like probatly Adobe Flash, Java(for Applets in browsers, nit the normal Java), and so on. Or, for example, your PDF reader is exploitable, an AV can safe you from malicious code in a PDF file. If you don't want to use an Antivirus, use Linux.
-
@tild3 Every site *can* contain a vulnerability, where a hacker/cracker, would properly be able to change the front end code.

@Gatgeagent Java for applets is now impossible. NPAPI is dead, therefore applets are dead.
-
@MrDhont Symantec has 11,000 employees and is specialized in AV since the early 90th. No idea why some ranters think they are the better experts...

@varundey The "someone" using norton is me. Your coworkers will also love this rant: https://www.devrant.io/rants/381078

@DivByZero the Norton is a whole separate project of Symantec and I am not associated with it as of now. Also I'm a Linux user so yeah it was pretty funny :D

Seeing someone using Norton.
