C0D4669024yI traded in FileZilla for winscp
FileZilla used to hang or not connect at all to different servers, and never had that issue with winscp. -
Transmit.
FTP, SFTP, SSH (like WinSCP), Connects to EC2 using .pem keys, S3, WebDav, Box.com, Azure, Dropbox, OneDrive... Works with Spotlight.
Does saved connections, etc. Has nice dark mode.
I have used I'm pretty sure every single FTP client for Windows, Mac, and Linux over the years.
This is the best one. There is absolutely no question.
The ONLY downside. It is $45 per license. But if you're a pro who wants to manage several of the above file sources in one client... it's worth it. -
@HiFiWiFiSciFi I'm not a pro I'm an idiot just wanting to transfer "legal" movie files to my home server.

I would say scp over ftp
winscp offers a good client for Windows, and if you're on Linux, most default file explorers have something built in (dolphin has it iirc) -
myss44504yIf I was in your shoes, wouldn't be worried about missing out on better client but better practices 😉
Literally got fucked at each job I needed to use it, regardless if it was for code or content control. -
I mainly use it for university stuff on their servers and there it's either
"bitvise ssh client" bc it has ssh and sftp in one
or to directly work on server the ssh plugin in vs code.

I don't use FTP enough to do research on a better client.
I use FileZilla cus that's what we were introduced to in school.
I feel like I'm missing out on a better client though. What's everyone's personal favorite, for those who use FTP clients regularly?
