Installed Ubunut 20 on my laptop (Thinkpad). It cannot open the App Store (with A letter on it). Imagine building a system, marking it as stable (long-term-support) and shipping it in such state that it is unable to launch the default (pre-installed!) app-store. This is Linux for you.

Updated the system; still cannot start the freaking appstore.

ubuntu froze a lot for me (like requires reisub freeze). Fedora is beeing a lot more stable.

It's not Linux, it's just Ubuntu, they went downhill ever since like 16.10 for me

Use Mint, it's the better Ubuntu.

I'd suggest launching the application store from the terminal, that way you'll see possible error messages

Or just install in the command line directly, which I personally prefer anyway

I’ve never had a problem with Ubuntu bricking personally but in my experience Ubuntu/Mint have been the most stable

This is a problem of Ubuntu or the maker of the app store. The Linux kernel is stable af. To get a full stable af system you need a stable af distro. For me it's been opensuse tumbleweed.
