Is web development dying Or is it growing more than ever ?
Any thoughts on this question?

Yeah the internet is just a fad ... we're all going back to native apps, tomorrow.

I think that the role of the front-end dev changes so much that it means something different every three years. At least in my small town, it's becoming harder for a self-taught person to break into the market.
Here, you still get the very basic breakdown of front-end and back-end with a novel length list of responsibilities that overlap both for lower pay.
That being said, change is good, technology evolves. Growth is a must.

Web development will shift to some other evolution. That just means that its current incarnation will die.

At the same time, there's been tons of advancement for PWA's: WebRTC, Bluetooth API, WebAssembly, etc etc. I'd personally prefer if everything sticks to the browser, since then the user would retain a lot of agency to stop some 3rd party cookies, install addons etc.

It is growing more than ever. I can not remember the last time I was involved in a new project targeting a standard computer desktop.

It's currently simply becoming more... REACT-ive. Bad pun here, but currently react and by extension, Facebook seems to influence how the future of web dev looks like. And mobile dev... and so on.

Pah, this "web" is just a nonsense fad. I give it 6 months.

The clients who get enraged that their website that launched two days ago doesn't look 'quite right' on a device that came out yesterday that less than 1,000 people will ever own still get to me sometimes, though.

Web development can also mean building API's, for a mobile app. So all mobile apps use web technologies
