More of a question than a rant. What to do regarding programming.

I'm self taught, php, c, c#, and I make stupid little programs that make my life easier as a sys admin.

I want to ask, how do I take things further? Where I'm from, it's really hard to get a job as a programmer without 5 years experience and knowledge in 5 other languages.

Do I try and make bigger apps to showcase myself and hope someone finds me, or what do I do in this instance. I'm not a fully fledged coder, but I'm comfortable and if I don't know something i learn it pretty quickly.

Is there a way that you get a job, even as a junior? Or is it pure luck?

    Get comfortable using git and other types of version control. Odds are you'll be using them if you get a coding job

    I'm junior to you, but I would love to add my '2 cents'. I would say maintain your github profile, and make some projects that you think are fun -any webpage, script, app, anything. I persobally found love in android app development, and am currently experimenting with front end development. You'll feel down, as do I, but always power through and understand what you love is more important. Read this line somewhere, and itbhas helped me a lot. All the best for your future projects. Open source is your friend 😀

    Thanks for the advice. It's appreciated, and I'll make sure to think about that any time I feel a bit dispondent.

    @ScribeOfGoD

    I shall do so. Will start saving my projects instead of throwing them into the trash because of a 'not-good-enough' mentality.
