    What's that?

    Oh fucking hell.

I like that the author seemingly tried to not let political bias and spin show through; unfortunately it did anyway, but they made an effort.

I also like (sarcasm) that the entire point of the article seemed to be “basically everyone connected to this asked me not to share this person’s name, but I wanted to so I did anyway. But then he shared it himself so it’s okay.” Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you.

Plus a pretty nice summary and explanation of the discussion site, its community, ideas, why they’re good, etc. It sounds like a lefty version of LessWrong. (Per the article: from communists to anarcho-capitalists; both are left of center.)

But then some spin came through like: they hold up some stereotypical lefty ideas, but they also allow some stereotypical righty people a platform to talk. Shame! Like duh, that’s what a free discussion platform is, and that is the very literal reason it works.

Free speech is required for a well-functioning society. Without it we cannot discuss ideas, views, problems, approaches, solutions, etc. that are not popular. Free speech frees us from being trapped in accepted lines of thought, also known as political correctness. Free speech makes people uncomfortable, and that is often a good thing as it’s a sign of growth.

Doxxing is an attack on free speech, and therefore on exactly what the site (and sites like it) are trying to accomplish: rationality and free thought.

    > Doxing is not a bad thing anymore!

    I disagree.

    1. false swat raids that kill innocents, 2. or target the wrong house, 3. mobs that send rape and murder threats to the family and friends, and even kids, of the target in question.

It is never okay to do these things.

I don't think the people seeing the doxxing, who approve of the doxxing itself, necessarily want these outcomes. I think they just haven't fully considered the implications of supporting the act itself.

If they did, I suspect they would be pretty disgusted.

In a few years time we'll all agree its never okay to doxx people, not because some individuals deserve it, but because of how so many others treat it as an an acceptable excuse for treating bystanders as collateral damage.

@Wisecrack I'm pretty sure that was sarcasm.
