I wish I could immigrate, probably too hard to do as a junior dev tho, maybe there's another way? Warehouse job or something?

    Username checks out xD

    Seriously though, have some patience and work hard.

    @rantsauce patience is bullshit. He must savagely chase opportunities, apply for jobs, contact pesky recruiters. These must be done before “becoming good enough”. Fortune favors the bold.

    @aviophile No man, he needs to patience to do all what you said including improving his skills. It's not easy.

    @rantsauce if I waited to improve my skills, I would not be in the first world.

    @aviophile care to elaborate?

    @thirdworld don’t wait perfect time to apply for a job.

    @thirdworld

    That's what I said too. :-)

    Or reply endlessly until you die from old age..

    I remember reading about someone who it took them 11,000 applications before they got a job !

    I never did find out how they got the job, since if they knew what was wrong with the previous 10,999 applications, they could have skipped doing those and just done the one successful one..

    I remember one time I was going to walk up and down the road with a very large sign asking for work, in a busy area of a city.

    Everyone told me it was a waste of time..

    But in hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have listened to them and tried it !

    Since I've heard that has worked for some folk.

    @Nanos haha reminds me of single moms posting ads on their vehicles.

    @thirdworld pretty much, at least I got to improve my interview skills from failed interviews.
  • 1
    @aviophile I am good at doing interviews but not at the technical part.

    @thirdworld

    I've been wondering if I should include a URL on my vehicle or not.

    I thought without, it kinda looked cleaner.

    @aviophile

    How do you know it was your performance that caused you to fail the interview ?

    I remember at college we had practice interviews which I apparently did very well in.

    But real world interviews, I never seemed to get the job !

    Was one of the reasons I took up nuclear reactor design, so in my hobbies section it would have something different to everyone else's list.
