For the first time in a very long time, I am out of a software engineering job. I have no idea why I am handling this so well. I literally have no idea if I will get another job or not but for this month, I am working on myself and learning more on FP which is really fun btw. Is this maturity?

You are at peace. For me, that’s maturity.

Isn't it because getting a job is ridiculously easy for devs? I can have a new job lined up within 2 weeks of I want.

    Imo it's what @craig939393 said

I was out of a job in April 2020 for 3 months. And it was the best time I had in years. I had some interviews and deals kinda lined up but not really? Recruiters were calling me like crazy.. It was a weird state for my employment but, I did a whole lot of personal projects and learned some machine learning stuff!

It never even occurred to me I could be without a job because I was always 100% sure I could land a new one within a couple of weeks if I really wanted to... spoiler alert, I didn't *really* want to...

Buuut then the social insurance money came in and it was almost like a minimum wage and that's when I thought "nope, this is lame, I wanna more" and moved things along with the job stuff... I'm still working at that position, I got better pay than I had before too (not but much, but it helps) and I'm pretty happy with stuff

@Hazarth yup I agree with @craig939393 . I have full confidence I will get the type of job I want when I am ready. In fact, a company I liked rejected me and they motivated me to upskill my functional programming and maybe this is arrogance but I will contact them once I feel I know enough to pass the test which I didn’t do so well in the first time.

The confidence level in this thread is too high for my comfort.

@Cyanide maybe that is a good thing (I am moving away from self deprecation this year)😂

@Cyanide it's not confidence in myself, it's confidence in the job prospects being what they are.
