Why is the syntax of SQL INSERT so completely different to the syntax of UPDATE?

...proceeds to rewrite multiple 60 column inserts into updates...

    With MySQL, not sure about Oracle, you can use 'set', and it makes the queries syntactically the same

    @nerd I explicitly checked before posting, Oracle doesn't have this :( Really sad how many times you end up looking up to MySQL of all things for QoL features when working with oracle.
