I am working for one of the FAANGs. I will soon be completing 4 years in industry. For me I should be an level 2 developer or at least working for level 2.
In my current company I don't think I will get promoted this soon and also, switching internally might now benefit as if I will switch my work at the company won't give me enough feedback to get promoted soon in the new team.
I am thinking of switching to some other company with a level 2 position and work at that level.
Should I continue working at FAANG as it has a nice name and all or switch to some other company with a promotion to grow my skills.

Even at my current company I am. learning a lot but the promotion is an issue.

A name is just a name in the end. If you think, you can get promoted elsewhere, and get happier with your work, go there, try it.

I left a company years ago, because they didn't fit to my needs, despite being a known name in germany. Since then I'm way happier with my work, even though i'm working in a smaller company now ☺️

Go where you think you'll be happiest. No point staying somewhere where you're unhappy just to get FAANG on your CV for a bit longer.

Sounds like you work at A.

I’d say if you are still learning consistently and the environment isn’t toxic stick it out at least one more year. Five years is where things really started to click for me and my confidence really went up. I’m not in FAANG land but I’ve talked to a number of SWEs who found 5 years in is a point where you can definitely hit a stride.

Maybe that stride is with current company, maybe another, but if you are thinking about this take the time to let the world get back to whatever we are gonna pretend normal is, and grow your skills at the same time.

@jeeper I'm enjoying here when there is work but as the team model makes us dependent on the other teams for each project it is a lot of obstacles that we have to fave before starting a project.
Also, I feel comfortable because I think my manager is very nice and patient with me. He is always quoting the improvements I can do and never judges. My teammate with him I closely work with is also very nice and provides good support.

@true-dev001 I think the one more year is good advice but start studying for interviews??

@phpisthebadz Yeah this is right. I'm learning but enough is enough.

When you’re young, no growth = not good because you have the capacity to work. The way I see it is.. comfortable = no or negligible growth.
