There are some questions that shouldn't be answered directly. Like, how many interviews you have - the answer should be "some". And how you're doing at them, that should be "let's concentrate on this interview". How you make your money, like "I have my funds - but speaking of money, my salary idea here would by XYZ".
What they are trying to figure out is whether you're desperate, and the best consequence of that would be them trying to haggle down your salary - or reject you right away. -
If you were only asked 5 questions, what were the other 3?
Those questions aren't red flags at all - you should prepare for questions about gaps in your CV, and many companies will ask as a matter of course if you're interviewing anywhere else at the moment. But only 3 other questions is a bit more odd. Still, if it was a first screening round it's not necessarily a bad thing.
No way of dealing with it other than waiting and seeing what happens. -
KingMilo6534y@AlmondSauce Hey mate,
thanks for getting back to me, yes it was a first screening after seeing & talking to two recruiters, other questions were basically about what i do in my spare time and some small questions about company and role. :-) - Though to be 100% honest, I let my recruiter know that i feel that this place wont be for me, going by gut feeling (tho could i be wrong?) :-) cheers. -
KingMilo6534y@Fast-Nop Hey fast
Thanks for getting back to me mate, To be honest, this was an experience for me , however got me the wrong way - I answered vaguely, salary was mentioned before via another source and was already quite low, I gave the other source feedback and mentioned that I don't think this might be a place for me :-) Just wanting to say I really appreciate everyone's time to read and comment :-) -
@Fast-Nop new grads can’t have that much confidence naturally unfortunately. They asked me if I am talking to other companies and I singed like a mockingbird: ONLY YOUUUUU 🎶
But most of my answers would be in vicinity of “none of your business” -
You're supposed to interview the interviewer to find out if the employer is decent or scum.

KingMilo6534y@electrineer you're absolutely correct, I did ask them a fair few questions so I could see if it would be the place for me :)

Hey DevRant fam,
I hope everyone is doing very well and of course staying safe, I just would like to share an experience I've had with an interview and would like some input and of course how you may have dealt with the situation,
I recently interviewed with a company that does Analytics consulting and are looking for grads - My gut feeling went warm as I walked into the office, was asked a nice first question such as "How is your day " etc, then was asked questions along the lines of:
"You seem to have finished your degree awhile ago, how are you making your money?"
"How many interviews are you having atm? How successful in each interview are you?" etc..
As I left my body felt very negative about the whole process... also I was only asked approx. < 5 questions, it felt like i was interviewing my interviewer - didn't feel good.
how would you go about this situation? curious to hear your thoughts! I very much appreciate you guys taking the time to respond and read my post. thank you <3 - this was organised through a recruitment firm btw.
