I hate that they're rebranding the newest Windows update "Windows 11"... it's been 5-6 years since they said Windows 10 was the last version of their OS. Why not drop the numbering convention all together? Also, why is the latest update a pile of crap that changes nothing other than the UI? Oh right, because the perception of progress to investors is the sole goal... I swear there is so much broken in windows 10 right now that they haven't fixed and so much more to be added, including file explorer tabs which they've literally started implementing and stopped at some point. Don't even mention the numerous UI inconsistencies between right clicks, color inconsistencies, still using control panel for some options in windows 11? UWP apps crash constantly and are slower and laggier than traditional .exe's, the list goes on and on for why this is the dumbest decision microsoft has made yet. problem is, "yet" is the keyword.

    Windows 11 as a whole new OS seems stupid, but you gotta admit windows sorely needed a UI update

    @10Dev The UI update imo is worse, and anything they changed (taskbar centering) is achieved with TaskbarX and better because of a transparent taskbar... https://i.imgur.com/UptwAda.png

    I've long moved on from using windows as my daily driver. Went to linux because of school then stayed there till recently I then switched to mac os because of the m1. I still have windows but I only boot it for the occasional gaming itch.

    @inawhile meh, maybe

    @inawhile Nah, at 7.

    Actually, it would already be amazing if Microsoft could make a file explorer that doesn't crash, and an OS that doesn't need reboots frequently. One day of heavy Word editing? Yeah Word becomes unstable, restarting Word doesn't help, only rebooting Windows does. Piece of shit.

    I think the reason will be in the store mainly, by allowing win32 apps, if the rumors are true.

    I.e. forcing that on all locked down-to-store devices would upset some sysadmins

    MS thinks changing the UI is enough to call it a new version

    @inawhile I'll legit agree to meet you in Washington state where mutual combat is still legal. Fisticuffs like proper homeless lunatics/gentlemen. First blood wins.

    Windows vista was better than xp.
    Fight me.

    I just like being difficult.
