after moving from a dual monitor setup back to a laptop because of finances, I just realized, I hate managing really large codes on laptops, it sucks!, screen size!, everything !

i cant be the only person who feels this way

jeah, I also feel a huge decrease in productiveness working in a single monitor environment. and if I have low resolution on top it makes things worse for me.

That was the most painful thing to do when I struggle with only the dual monitor setup as it is.

Since WFH for the past year I've invested in a dual monitor for home aswell but yeah, back to where I was but it's not enough 😔

Someone needs to make a decent VR OS with High Resolution, and then I can be gone with he need for monitors.

You can also turn off suspend on your laptop get an external vid card with a few ports and close the shitty laptop and hook up a keyboard and mouse and never know the difference lol

A laptop's integrated input and output devices are only meant to be used in emergencies where you literally need to work while changing locations.
When you are at home, work, a LAN party,... the laptop should be connected to real power, ethernet, monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset.

If you are actually using it as a laptop for prolonged periods of time while not traveling, you are definitely using (and maybe also holding) it wrong.

Yes I feel the same 😁 I got a Dell ultra wide screen 34 inches. With USBC charging. Perfect. But it wasn't cheap.

Yeah it’s either too small to see enough or you make everything on it smaller and then it’s too small to read but you can see more of it.

I’ve been thinking of getting a 27” Quad HD monitor. Anyone tried using one for development that’s about that size?

it might work well for you @TrevorTheRat, I used dual 24 inches but a single worked fine for me too, 1080p

Laptops generally suck. They are a compromise of everything.

I use a 42 inch 4k monitor, so it's like having 4x 21 inch HD monitors in a 2x2 grid, except one seemless screen. Love it. More functional than a 4k 27 inch where you just get higher dpi but not really screen size real estate.

Never understood digital nomad style of laptop only by choice, the ergonomics are so bad for your neck / eyes.

This is why I'll *never* understand Devs who go for the 13" MacBook models. Screen real estate is king in Software Development; and there are often situations where you need to get some work done, where external monitors aren't available.

@Augmental or any laptop at all. Anything less than 21 inches is too damn small. And 24 inches is basically a gold standard.

@Augmental yeah I’ve never had a mac and really fancy one but 13” seems too small
