Ironically enough on Android 10 it's not happening, not sure about 11 -
Sounds like some aggressive power saver. Is it stock android or some manufacturer-customized abomination?

@electrineer stock Android , so you're saying system is putting app to deep sleep if not used for some time?

@gitpush At least it's one possibility. You could try disabling battery optimisation for the app, or adaptive battery for the whole system.

On Android 9 if not used for three days it stops receiving anything.
