C0D4681383yI know what subscription email that is 🙂
But yea, Google's glass would have been acceptable since it wasn't video but Facebook + more invasive tracking 🤷♂️
Oh and yea, here's one I prepared earlier.

@C0D4 it could do video. But it's no different then if I had my cell out so idk the concern. Privacy advocates are picking the wrong battles imo.

C0D4681383y@demortes always on, your phone is not always on recording.
Also, I'm not a privacy nut. Just a concerned citizen with with smart home devices 😅 -
hitko31483y@demortes The whole point of Google glasses was to have a transparent screen for AR and other information. The whole purpose of Facebook glasses is to have two cameras which record everything. Also it's easy to spot someone recording with their phone, good luck figuring out whether the person across the street is recording you with their raybans.
-
@C0D4 also google glass wasn't always on any more than your microphone on your phone is always on for google assistant. The camera wasn't even always on. I had one.
-
@hitko you assume you're that interesting to record. Additionally out in public who cares? You're recorded already. So why are you going against "glassholes" and not traffic cams and store security cameras and dash cams? How do you know you're not being recorded with the phone? Are you going to approach someone who has their phone pointed in your general direction? I feel this is rhetoric given by privacy nuts who aren't thinking about the real life. But again this is assuming you're interesting enough to record.

Love how the fact the camera lighting up, probably the only nice thing as other people’s privacy is respected, is treated like a bad point
-
donuts238483y@piratefox who says it's not recording if it's not lit up though?
Also I think the comment was how would someone across the street see it.
It should broadcast "I'm recording!!!!" Instead...
But wait I'm deaf so wouldn't hear it... And it would probably be a noise violation... 🤔 -
donuts238483yDoes it light up when taking photos? If not, it could just take automatically photos every few seconds...
-
@donuts the not recording if not lit up/ visibility concerns are very valid, that was not really the point!
It’s a bit like having somebody telling you that they’ll cut your arm off and use iodine tincture to disinfect the cut and you (the author of the article) reacting saying: “fiiiiine but it sucks that you are using a very stingy disinfectant…” just complain about the whole cutting the arm situation -
donuts238483y@piratefox oh which article, maybe I misunderstood your first comment.
But yes just saw the new this morning and went wtf... Been there done that.
Also reminds me when it was discovered that Google map vans were collecting wifi meta data... -
hjk10157313yDon't forget about covering the led or plain disable it. Where people want to covertly record this is an enabler.
Uh... Remember Google Glasses
Weren't there privacy concerns? Or is it OK of Facebook did it?
Just nobody trusted Google... But everyone likes Facebook?
