hjk10157318yThe good thing about being forced to use Perl is that you still have options!
Perl motto: There is more than one way to do it. -
hjk10157318yAll kidding aside Perl is still a useful language. I wrote a scraping framework in Perl and still works great. Perl has very nice tools for text parsing. It is a handy substitute for bash when things get a bit too complicated. It has some very bad posts though and requires a lot of discipline to write good code.
We used to be a Perl company (WebGui CMS) and have removed the last customer site this month. Perl has lost its edge and will most likely slowly die out. -

My comment was heavy on the sarcasm. It is one of the things that is very bad about Perl and why I love Go (limited keywords and consistent). The UNIX philosophy suits me better (do one thing and do it right) -
I am going to teach myself perl because I just cant bear with the python's way of telling me what to do.
YOU CANT TELL ME WHAT TO DO FILTHY SNAKE -
@jAsE I didn't say that. I just remembered that I used Perl during the late 90s, early 00s like crazy and really loved it, too. What's true is that nowadays I am glad that Perl is irrelevant to me since I have replaced it with languages that do the same in a way more elegant and clean way in which I am able to understand my code even month later 😂
