AbHy258yI have an Intel/Nvidia GPU. Linux works just fine. You just need the correct drivers which often do not come with the installation media.
In my case, Ubuntu did not boot until I disabled the driver in GRUB. Once the OS boots, I installed the manufacturer drivers. Then all went well. -
DRHAX3414498yCurrently in Apricity, I had an AMD/Intel laptop but after seeing how shitty switchable graphics were, I got a laptop with NVIDIA only! (yes, no intel, no integranted graphics)

flag020328y@DRHAX34 spent a day in it and i got it working. Not that hard. But yeah it has broken once. Easy fix though. Also i have to remember to change the driver after an update. Much better on amd. Works good there.

DRHAX3414498yI know it's not hard, and yes it is better on AMD. But my laptop was an HP and for some reason HP crippled the AMD, so it was really slow

Kimmax111068yDisable the one you don't need in the bios, or blacklist one. Kills the purpose tho. It was meant to safe power on mobile devices
-
@Kimmax unfortunately its not possible, theres no option in bios about gpu, acer e1 😳

Kimmax111068y@seven5689
Oh yeah, the good old locked and screwed up laptop bios. You could try blacklisting one of them. I think udev can do that -
I'd love to have a working Linux on my laptop. It's an Asus with Intel/NVIDIA and I have no idea how to get it working with fedora or debian/Ubuntu derivs.
-
Kimmax111068y@BirdLawExpert tell us whats not working and we might be able to help.
The fine thing about Linux is that there is no such thing as "doesn't work", as long as you keep it realistic of course -
mikk1506408y@Kimmax I havent been able to make hdmi that is wired to Nvidia work with binary drivers, newer binary drivers do not work with bumblebee. With foss drivers only hdmi audio is not working(not worried bout that) but everything else is, but performance is about the same as igpu.
On my radeon gpu hybrid machine you grab linux, install and it just works
