sariel84473yThe question isn't if, it's why.
Why are you more productive at an office?
I'm more productive at home because I can easily ignore all the email and slack buggery. While in an office, every Tom Dick and Sally wants to ask me for something.
I'll quit before I go back. -
Jaydin1073yWell I live in apartment RN. Sometimes neighbors can be noisy at times and when I'm home. I got alot of things to cause distractions. Tv, games. If I'm in a library doing assignments. I'm tend to be more focused on tasks . It's like I get lazy at home lol

sariel84473y@Jaydin that's actually pretty common. It's incredibly difficult to split the fun and work apart.
I have a reward system in place that helps me stay focused.
For every hour of productivity I get 5 minutes of YouTube.
For every milestone/task I complete I get 10 minutes of game time.
I'll usually have my steam link running on another input and just switch over to it. I'm old, so I usually just play some Nintendo or Atari games until time is up.
On a bad day I may never get any game time. On a good day 2-3(20-30 minutes).
Also, milestones/tasks are ticketed or captured items. Interruptions like "I need x report" or "please reset my account" emails or slack don't count. This incentivises me too ignore or required those kinds of requests as tickets. And since closed tickets is a KPI, I look great in the end anyway. -
Only thing i agree is that the fact when I see developer holding phone to make picture of code, that developer should be fired without notice.

Jaydin1073yIt's a school assignment bro 🤦♂️😂. And for the record. As many devs I interact with on daily basis. I don't see a problem with it. People share code all the time. It can be helpful. Someone may know a better way of writing a piece of code and can give you tips on writing said code with more efficiency and less lines. 🤷♂️

The phone comment I agree also for the love of god sort out your indentation 😂 also 4 spaces? What!

I just rented a dedicated place to work (it's a friend's garage), because with my wife around, it's impossible to get shit done. But in that place I'm alone, noone bugs me and if needed I can turn off every interruption.

@KatatonDzsentri I second that. others can disturbe with even innocent questions while in the rabbit hole. and they are easily offended when I don't want to talk

Flamestro913yPersonally, I feel way more productive at home. In my Team we agreed to go to the office once a week and its fine like that.
I also feel happier at home as I have more free time due to not wasting time on commutes. -
@Jaydin you can change the default spaces value in the settings and manually reindent the file. There are also linters that you can install that’ll do it automatically for you.

Jaydin1073yAppreciate the comments. Apartments sucks when u live downstairs. U can hear everyone walking. Guess I gotta bring out the headphones lol
To all my Web Devs and Coders out there. Talking with a friend. We both agreed that we do tend to get more assignments done when we aren't at home?
Do yall agree?
