Just realized looking at my order history... I bought the Pixel 4a 5g I'm February.

And just finished switching to a Pixel 6 Pro....

So not even a year...

@electrineer I blame the Tensor chip and camera.... Too hyped but too much hassle to return now...

In comparison, took me 4 years to upgrade my OnePlus 1 to 6....

So what was so bad about 4a?

As it happens, the plain pixel 4 works like a charm and I'm hell glad of that soli sensor.
Is the pixel 6 waterproof as well?

@iiii nothing... Tensor was supposed to be way better...

Though it seems most is just hype right now... Only hope is to wait for better software that actually uses it I guess

@scor yes supposedly... Isn't that standard now?

@donuts there was no breakthrough to make new phones largerly different to the ones made to years ago. It's just marketing.

@iiii ya apparently... But there's too much sunk cost now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@donuts sunk cost is a trap. Do not follow it

@iiii I already wiped the phone and transferred everything over and set up all my apps again...

Not doing this for another year at least hopefully....

@donuts You can open a youtube review channel and earn your money for the next one 😂😂

@coldfire too much work, easier throwing darts at crypto and stock market.

Since staying with my parents last year, I lose like $500 month to maintenance and taxes on an empty apartment

Oh... Doordash... 3 months trial of DashPass with 2 $5 coupons a month... Still ended up on average paying $60 per order to make delivery worth it...

But yes guess that's the context in which I bought the Pro... what's another $500...

Congratulations! You've become aware you're part of the cattle that is happy just throwing money at big corporations every time they make a new product that you don't really need.

Now what will you do with that knowledge? Will you still buy the Pixel 7 pro (or whatever they name it) or will you resist the brainwashing?

    @nitnip aint buying another...

How long do you typically go between upgrades?

I usually hold on to a device for at least 2-3 years, but that Tensor chip!!! 🤔🤯
